Yet another P*** a* H*** thread
We were in P*** a* H*** and noticed they have started selling torts now as pointed out on another thread. I was not impressed with this first one, my wife went to get someone to save this tort before it drowned. I pointed out that it would be best if a stone was placed in the water dish but was told, it's okay I will put some wool in it

That's really scary , especially the first picture - why onn earht do they feel they need to sell tortoises - they should leave it to the breeders who know what they are talking about

No I didn't. The girl was quite shocked to see it and said it hadn't done it before. She really was concerned about it but I don't know where she got the wool idea I think it's only recently they have got them in. The water dish apart, the conditions were better than I've seen in any other pet shop I've come across

The substrate must have gold dust in it at that price

Hopefully the price will put most people off. I do believe the starter kit (including a viv etc) is £200! Hopefully it won't be very profitable for them due to people not buying them and they'll eventually stop selling the tortoises.

Whats damming about the first picture? Tortoises do some times end up on there backs, it happens. It will happen to tortoises kept in pet shops it will happen to tortoises kept by keepers/breeders. The enclosure looks clean and the water looks fresh, there would be absolutely nothing for the RSPCA to get involved for, and pet shops are regularly inspected by the RSPCA any way, as well as council inspectors. |

I just hate seeing an animal in distress - but I agree the rest is clean but it just feels bad that thye have such a poor reputation when selling other livestock. I guess what I am saying is I'd rather they sold no animals at all |
