How do you grow your weeds indoors?

Im going to write a care guide on how to grow seeds in the colder months.

Please can you tell me how you grow yours successfully?

Temperature?
Sun light?
Watering how offen?
Do you start your off warm to get them to grow then transfer them to a cooler place ?
What soil do you use?
HAve you any pictures of weeds you have grown in cooler months?

This is a good idea. I haven't had a lot of success so far. I grow in big pots and seed trays near the windows and patio door. I've had to put some outside because of lack of room. The 2 trays outside with a cover on them seem to be at about the same stage inside.
All are very delicate, fall over and grow in SLOW motoin so far.
Even my nusturgums dodn't look very happy.
Water once a week, little water, more if things are looking dry

I have grown mine in seed trays in just top soil. I keep the trays in my conservatory where I have the tort tables. I water when they get dry. The room is kept at around 22 degrees. Being glass, there is plenty of light and is in my south-facing back garden. They have grown like anna's - spindly but I am convinced it is because I didn't start them off until late november. I will definitely start them off in the summer this year in tall pots and grow on the plants for the winter months. I'll post pictures when I get a chance!

I have had no success yet (have only tried once)! I am going to try again tomororw, but I have a tip from a friend. He is a science specialist teacher and said that seeds grow stronger if you place them in a dark place for a while before growing (I need to ask just how long). This means they grow stronger roots as they can only grow down with no sunlight, then when you take them out they will grow thicker and less likely to fall over.

Like I said I am starting this theory tomorrow, so will let you know more as time goes. Bare with me Sarah and I will keep you posted!

These are my 1st efforts, which were planted approx 10 days ago and are seeds i got from the SW shop

They are just on a south facing windowsill inside, i have used some multi purpose compost and spray them every other day, as for the temp, it is quite warm in that room as i keep it heated for a nice background temp for the torts

Will try other ways aswell to see what works best

PS - sorry about the manky decor, we just aint decorated since we moved in........erm 2 years ago now

For my first attempt I have germinated my seeds indoors and after a couple of days have moved them outside to an unheated greenhouse. They look very strong and most of the plants are not at all spindly but time will tell. I used topsoil and watered them when they looked dry.

to be honest the small tray on the front right are a bit spindly, but overall they are doing ok taking into account the time of year........might stick em outside now and let them fill their boots

I planted milk thistle, forget-me-not and sainfoin in the same tray in August.

Just gave them a good water and stuck them on a south facing windowsill.

The FMNs were very delicate and pretty much fried in the sun. But the other two are still going strong. I water every other day, as the milk thistle in particular seems to be very thirsty.

The sainfoin was very leggy when it first started growing but since I've nipped off the first shoots its sprouted a lot more leaves.
