3) are they legal in england and would i need any certs for them?

4) how much can they cost?

5) could you please link me a care sheet for them?

As lolly said i think they are similar i believe the difference is the cherryheads are a bit smaller and their shape of their head is slightly different.

Good luck

To be honest I have only seen one adult cherryhead and she looked about the same size as the other normal redfoots. they may be smaller but only by a few cm so there isn't that much difference in size. And there do not hibernate as they are still a tropical tortoise from south america.

2) how big can they grow?
redfoots can range from 25-38 cm, cherryheads maybe on and the smaller end of this scale

3) are they legal in england and would i need any certs for them? they are legal and you don't need certs

4) how much can they cost? depends if you get a baby or adult. Also If your looking for a cherryhead baby I don't know of anyone breeds them (ukcb). if you see them in a pet shops they might not even be cheeryheads. They use this term as a marketing gimmick and they might be imported. And its hard to know if it is a cherry until it starts to produce marbling. Mine didn't start producing marbling till it was 11cm prob about 2/3 yrs

5) could you please link me a care sheet for them? There care is exactly the same as redfoots. If you put redfoot it to google or any forum you'll find loads of info

Thanks in advance (haha it rymed :P)
Have a look at these, they'll give you more info
http://www.redfoots.com/redfoot.htm
http://www.redfoottortoise.com/
http://www.turtletary.com/cherryheads.htm this one shows you the differences in RF and CH

Hope that helps

If you are seroius about owning a "cherryhead" or any other Redfoot a good starting point is this book
http://www.nhbs.com/south_american_t...no_151982.html

It's not cheap but if you are serious that shouldn't be a problem as its a lot cheaper than the set up, maintenance and vets bills you'll encounter in the future.

I recently bought the book mentioned and I would highly reccomend it. It's a bit cheaper on this site http://www.grahamnewlandnaturalhisto...k/si/4768.html and delivery was really fast. However I think this book has a lot of background information, info regarding the different geographical races in RF's and info on the other 2 SA torts, yellow foot and chaco, and might overwhelm a beginner.

A good book on redfoot care and hunbandry for a beginner would be http://www.pingleton.com/redfoot/redfoots.htm this is his new book, I had his old one, I'm sure this would be just a good if not better. But to be honest you can get all the info you'd need to begin with by just searching the net and forums- for free I think the best info comes from forums as its ppl first hand experineces and how they solved their problems which you also may encounter, problems and experiences that you wouldn't find in a care sheet. Then if you want a more indepth knowledge on the speices I'd buy the south american tortoise book, but you don't need it to start off with IMO.

If you do your research before getting the RF they aren't that hard to look after IMO

Cool but I don't see any problem with a beginner gaining an in depth knowledge of the species they intend to keep form the start. The OP has gone from an Ibera to a red foot in 24 hours,(based on what, what the pet shop has in stock at the moment?) I think a period of light reading may be benifical before any descision is made.

I changed my mind on a ibera to a cherry head because of hibernation. i dont have suitable fridge space and they wont let me put it in the food fridge

Also id like to get a vivarium if that is the best way of controlling the humidity... how big would i have to get?
