Chewie
Helloooo my name is Chewie, can you please tell me what species I am?
He's still wet from his bath in the first one so not sure if it's suitable. He's 7 years old (supposedly... we don't have documentation and he's not chipped), SCL 174mm, weight 704g. Thanks a mil |

He is a male Eastern Hermanns, Testudo hermanni boettgeri. Are you sure you measured in a straight line and not over the curve of the carapace (top shell). If he is that size, he should weight 1,000g. That weight is more for a tortoise that is 155mm.

Testudo hermanni boettgeri I think you might have your measurements slightly out.

Cool thanks so much! That's what I'd thought also but wasn't sure if I got it right 'cause am quite new at this... I did measure but perhaps his head was poking out too much--will try to re-measure him, am trying to not stress him out too much as he's still quite nervous when handled (though becoming fond of head rubs lol). Thanks for the links also!
p.s. he's asleep in the second photo with his bum up like that... I adore the little weirdo |
