ExoticDirect are one, but I posted about this before, and someone posted that there can be a lot of small print thats a bit dodgy, and just advised putting £ by each month, which is what I do

I do the same as Claire and I set up a bank account specially for Lilys vet money.
I have a standing order for xx cash to Lilys account each 1st of the month!! As with what has already been said, there are things that the exotic insurance does not cover for. I would just get registered at a good exotics vet and put aside money each month. xx |

I think the trouble with that particular inurance company is that once a condition has been diagnosed, they won't insure the tort the following year
I do as Rach and Clare does and have a tort fund to help cover any expenses. |

Yes it's a bit of a con, the small print will tell you things like only 2 claims per year allowed and not allowed to claim a second time for the same illness etc. you usually have to pay the first £50 or £100 of any claim made as well unless you pay a higher premium.. just like car insurance

There are a few companies will cover the same condition year after year but then if you change companies, the new one won't.
For example, with our dog, he's on medication the rest of his life costing over £300 a month but due to having insurance it only costs one £75-100 excess per year which is saving us a fortune. However the insurance company now has us by the proverbial balls because if we moved to another, then the condition wouldn't be covered! They could up the excess and the premiums to what ever they want really! |
