Abit gutted...
I have, this afternoon, recieved a letter from the council containing news of ups and downs!
i live in the west end of newcastle which isn't the best of places although it is readily developing... about five to ten years ago a whole housing estate was knocked down.. i mean a big big part of 'scotswood' just literally a one minute walk from my house... now this is maybe a quarter of a mile in radius and is soo quite that it is perfect for walking my dog as the roads remain although are blocked off from cars and where houses did stand they have been replaced by lush areas of grass and more importantly WEEDS!! the grass gets cut regularly to keep it down although great areas still remain full of weeds! at an evening i can walk my dog and fill a plastic carrier bag full of all kinds of weeds very easily! the letter i received was saying that work shall commence next week to begin levelling off and building upon this area and it will very soon become fenced off and 'out of bounds to public' its great for the community and landscape and housing and jobs but i am very concerned!!! my dog, buddy, just loves that place, as do i as i can walk the abandoned roads and he has lots of space to run about.. and my tortoises love weeds from that particular area... i think i shall write a petition to my local council... .... what would you do? (most entertaining gets a thumbs up) ..... (dugy is bored!) |

I know how you feel Dugy. I used to get fab weeds from some wasteland and then when I went back one day it had been fenced off and was being built on. I was not a happy bunny.

You could maybe nick some railings and erect them round the grassy knoll then get someone to chain you to them and you could swallow the key. phone the tyne tees newsroom before you get chained though

Haha I think you should chain yourself naked to get a bit more attention!

Put a tent up in the field, build huge tortoise pens there and live there forever? Offer to let your living, breathing weed-mowers clear the weeds? And ha, that certainly would grab attention, Aliza! But I don't think Dugy would swallow the key, Alan . . maybe drop it in a river would be more appropriate . . . .

On a serious note could all this wilderness thats developed potentially hold a a rare species of some sort or another that could aid in any block on the development?????
Failing that it'll take an act of god to stop a development inside newcastle's city limits!! Carn't believe it's lasted untouched as long as it has...
