Default Anyone Want to Play Guess the Gender?

I rehomed these two pickles November ‘21. They were teeny and around 50g at the time. They’ve thrived and are now approaching three years old and although still under 200g, I thought it would be fun to guess the gender even though they have plenty of growing to do.
I had to do links as the message board BB codes were bringing the photos out too large.

The larger of the two I suspect could be male

The smaller I’m undecided on but am thinking female

Anyone else want to have a educated guess?

The second one I agree looking female, the first is harder as you cannot see the length of the tail properly:0)

Thanks both.

Tricky to get the length of the bigger one’s tail but I’ve taken a few more if it helps Sandy.

I am guessing also female, but they both have time to change:0)
They might try mating soon if different:0)

Thank you Sandy. The jury is out on the bigger one then.
Yes, still plenty of growing to do and I’m keeping my eye on them but so far, no sign of naughty behaviour. They are clutch mates. An inexperienced keeper bought a few torts, popped them in together and then wasn’t prepared for eggs. She incubated three and all hatched but these two had the shells stuck to them, which she peeled off, so they have a few minor bumps and dips but otherwise are fine. The whole experience seemed to frighten her and she felt she wasn’t capable of raising them, hence the rehoming when they were yearlings and starting to grow.
I told her to separate her males but warned the females could still go on to lay fertile eggs for anything around 3 years, which she had no idea about. She had 2 males in with 3 females so quite a lot of mating going on. We also spoke about safe and humane methods to dispose of unwanted eggs.
Sad really, as she admitted she didn’t understand about humidity and supplements and her tortoises were very bumpy. Poor woman was just on a big self-guilt trip, so I was happy to take the hatchlings from her. The third had gone to a friend.

The pair of them are very sweet. I never imagined having hatchlings again so it’s been nice to watch them and I don’t mind what sex they are, although I really have hit full capacity and these are the last I’ll be able to rehome from the TPG. Nice to finish rehoming with little ones though.

Now with a better picture I'm not sure on that one I'm still swaying towards a male but who knows with all these genders we seem to have now.

Oh don’t Gordon - a gender fluid, non-binary tortoise is not what I need!

I still think more male than female but time will tell.

Anyone else want a punt? Who’s still popping by - Mary? Clare? Yvonne? Kirkie?
Is that all of us?!

Hello Emma
Still around although have not got as many torts as I used to have.
I tend to agree that the larger tortoise is male and the small one female but I am famous for getting things wrong!
