Default advice please...

Im so excited .....now ive got my eggs ...that I don't want to muck up ....I have put eggs very quickly as on my way to work on peat/topsoil ..that I scooped from the garden ....eggs are in incubator ...should I change the soil for vermiculite..and the eggs are very dirty ...will cleaning them ,do damage ...I wanted to torch them ..later on ..but they are so dirty ....thankyou everyone ..x

Yes use dry vermiculite i clean mine with no problems but not to sure as yours have been in the ground 4 days make sure you mark the top of the eggs and dont turn them if they are fertile then all should be ok what type of incubator are you using

hi there im using a home made incubator ..with a poly box .etc ...I had my first hatchlings 2 years ago ...they were a compleat surprise ..and I couldn't believe hey had hatched ..id tried over 20 years and had no luck..id just turned on keept heat at 32....and changed water pot when empty ..and pow .....4 babys ..that have done lovely .I didn't even know they were on there way ..but this time I really don't want to leave anything to chance .

Once the egg is in the incubator and warmth has been used, don't turn the eggs. Better to mark the top with date or torts name, then you will know which way up the egg goes.
