my female still hasnt laid yet ..
My female has now been digging for 2 weeks ,,she has dug up most of my lawn ...I have made some nesting sites around garden near to digging spots ..made it easier for her ..used soil so smell still there ..tonight...I noticed that underneath her , the shell across near her lower end is separating is this to help her lay her eggs ...

Yes it is
Might try to make a spot she's been back to, more than twice, easier to dig in. Danny

On egg laying females Alley, the last 2 sets of scutes on the plastron (femoral and anal) become more moveable so it's easier to lay eggs.

At what point does this occur, when they reach maturity or when the first eggs are imminent? also once it happens does it just stay that way? |

Have you wet the soil at all? the soil needs to hold together so she can dig the chamber without it collapsing, if you are going to try doing this use water that is quite warm
