Basking temp for baby
What temp should be in tort table for a new hatchling ...what wAttage bulb....and what height above baby should the light bulb be x

Lots of advice on this one but you need to give an idea to the experts on
The type of tortoise The type of housing Where the tortoise will be kept. I am afraid so many variables to get the correct advice without the above. |

Hi there
the general guide of 32C for a Med species is useful with the height of a heat lamp being determined mainly by that. Your baby needs to be able to move into and out of the warmest area like a larger tortoise does.

Hi I have a very ikkle ibera hatchling only one ATM .....8gm in a open top tort table ....bulb about 12 inches higher than soil ....I have placed a bowl directly under heat source so he doesn't sitting directly underneath xx

Sounds good - it's important to check the temperature at the warmest and coolest places that your wee one can get to. If the warmest place is less than 32C he won't eat properly.
