Default basking question - newbie here!

Hi everyone, I have been a lurker here for a while but I recently got my first tortoise - a 10 month old spur thigh (ibera). I was wondering if it is normal for them to go to sleep under the basking lamp? I have the arcadia D3 UV basking lamp and the temperature is between 32 and 33 degrees directly under it. She is eating normally and taking in water through daily baths.

Great, thank you

Also, she is waking up around 9am and taking herself back off to bed for the night between 3pm and 4pm. Is this normal? Should I turn the lamp off once I know she's definitely not coming out again even though it will have only been on for 6 or so hours?

Hello and welcome to the forum! Sleeping under the light just means she doesn't have to make her way to it in the morning.

Welcome to the forum.
It sounds as if your lovely tort is just enjoying a nice bask and sleeping where it's warm.

Thank you for all your welcomes and responses, I feel reassured! For some reason my above post seemed to appear in amongst all yours after you sent yours, so not sure if people will have seen it
