Default Hibernation?

Our three year old tortoises have become very sluggish and disinterested in food this week, very out of character. They are on a tortoise table with heat and uv. Should we be worried or is it the autumn blues?

Your tortoise is just noticing the shorter days, and is preparing for hibernation:0)
All normal.

My females haven't moved all day, but Malcolm has been out stomping as per usual. I have just bought some storage boxes so I can bring them in at night as the heating hasn't been sorted outside yet.

Horace my Horsefield is the same. I just get him up under his lamp for 12 hours, he does not want food. He goes back after his light goes out and I do the same the next day. I bath him every other day.
The temps are as of this morning at 6am 16c. I turn the heat on and most of the day the room temp is 23-25c as it is now. Horace is just under his lamp sleeping. I don't want to hibernate him. There is food for Horace but he does not want any. I have had him 5 years and have done the same since I had him.

I think that with some torts the owner doesn't have a choice about hibernating as the tort decides for itself, it can then be a real struggle to keep them awake, healthy and eating over the winter. All the time they don't eat but are kept in warmth and light they will be using up their fat stores so its important to keep a close eye on weight loss etc and make sure they are kept hydrated with baths.
