YANNI- URGENT HELP!!!
Shes digging nests all over the place!!!! shes scratching with her back legs in the hemp, then shes doing it on the decking in their enclosure, now shes doing it in the water dish, Ive put her in a deep soiled spot thats patted down and moist- and then digger came out so she bit him.
I'm too worried- Some of that Valium would be nice Tamie!!! I haven't got an incubator set up yet or anything- her tails looking fat too!! Im so worried, what should I do? Can anyone tell im in a panic? The weather is about 26oc in the sun here- so im sure she'll be warm enough |

She wont be happy until she finds the right place to lay. In my experience wherever they
started trying. I had one that would only dig a nest in rock hard grass, I had trial nests all over the lawn. Eventually she dug in the first place she tried. The lawn did look a mess with about fifteen to twenty trials.

shes 13 this year, but big for her size- shes not lumpy though.
Sandy- the first place I *saw* her digging was on a slate ontop of hemp, and its not suitable to lay there. shes outside digging on a slope now, she just looks so stressed I hate seeing her like this- what do I do RE incubator- Ive got the heat mat and the thermometer, a cake tray and two bricks, but no box or thermostat- will the eggs be okay in a cupboard thats kept at room temp untill I get a incubator properly sorted out'? |

Oh Josh I wish i had something useful to say, But I have never been in your situation and wouldnt know what to do either!
Try not to panic I am sure that some one more experienced will be along soon with loads of brilliant information Has she actually laid any eggs yet? Have you tried PM'ing anyone? I will keep my fingers crossed for you |

I would think you need to get an incubator set up STRAIGHT AWAY. I'm not an experienced owner and i haven't had any experience in eggs etc.. BUT common sense tells me you need an appropriate incubator to increase the eggs fertility and health. I would think you need perfect conditions or it could effect the eggs. IMO.
And, try not to worry too much about Yanni, she would go through this in the wild on her own. she is a very capable tortoise. It must be distressing to see, but maternal instincts will help her make the decisions she needs to, for healthy babies |

Josh take a deep breath
If the incubator isn't set-up, you can use a container with some hemp on the bottom. Make some depressions for the eggs. You can mark the tops of the eggs with a pencil. Place a small container of water with the eggs. Put the whole container where it's at least 27C. I've found that if your rushed your homemade won't be right and that's not good. I'd order a hovabator from somewhere. It's easy to set-up and you'll have time to get the kinks out of your homemade one. Danny
