That's scary. I don't see any mention of ambient temperature or even base temperatures...

This is exactly the point I'm sure I've addressed in the pass.

I wonder how many of those that complemented the advice followed it... I also wonder about the results of those that did follow that advice.

Lmfao !!!!!!!!!!! you of all people have no room to judge others when it comes down to hibernating tortoise's , or should i say trying to hibernate tortoise's .
I question why you comment at all other than to try to argue which you seem to thrive on . Any advice i give is based on fact not fiction in your head .
Ed maybe you should consider doing a sticky on hibernation , diets etc so we can all learn cuckoo !!!!! cuckoo !!!!!

I for one used it just fine last winter, I still have 2 happy healthy tortoises! And I will follow it again this year, health permitting (which right now seems fine)

I have plenty of room to offer advice because I believe I have a full understanding of why tortoises hibernate and the process that forces them to do so.

It seems that those who follow the dogma that tortoises must hibernate really don't understand the exact reason or the process the tortoises follow. These same 'knowlegable' keepers seem to be threatened by any idea different than their own and usually resort to demeaning behavior as a result of the insecurity they have in the advice they present.
