Scared to death
After reading some posts on here about Leopard hatchlings. I've just got two. They're six months old. I'm terrified they'll die! I keep reading such conflicting reports. Any tips?
I've just changed the basking bulb from a 60 watt to a 100 watt and they're now eating tons more. Won't touch flowers of any kind, which I find odd! I'm blending up readigrass and sprinkling over Plantain and Dandelions. Seems all they will eat! I have a bowl of Lime Stone flour down and one is constantly eating it, is that a good or bad sign? Soaking daily, which they seem to love as well. Blimey it's worse than when I had my children! |

Sounds like your doing everything just fine. Eating the limestone flour right out of the container is fine too. Is your basking bulb a UV bulb? Are you putting a supplement on the food that contains vitamin D3?

I've got a separate UVB bulb, not a strip though. I've ordered another Mercury Vapour bulb as the last one blew up after a day!!!!! Pigging things! I've kind of changed their diet from whom I got them off. Lovely bloke, so I'm assuming the diet change will be putting them of a bit! Thank you Danny. : )

I'd go with Nutrabol at every other feeding. Redigrass is fine as spot on the soil substrate for them to dig into. It doesn't make a good substrate by itself.

I suggest you have a look at the Pre Alpine Cobs, they are intended just as added fiber not a complete food, soaked they can be added to your weeds/plants.http://www.tortoiselady.co.uk/page8.htm I beleive they are especially usefull for grazing species such as your leopards and are very handy in the winter months when its not so easy to find food. Ps go to the online shop in the link if you want to buy.

We have a leopard and I can recommend for the coming winter months Zoomed grassland tortoise food, its ideal when the fresh stuff from the garden is in limited supply.
Good luck with your Leopards and enjoy them. http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/z...1g-zm-130.html |

make sure the readi grass doesn't get wet either from wee/poo or water spray it will go mouldy very quickly so either be carefull or remove any damp. My sully had a bed area sectioned off in her table so that her bedding for sleeping didn't get sprayed when I did the rest of the table, hay is the same as readigrass in that it goes mouldy when damp or wet.

I've got a bale, I think it's fair to say I could easily change it daily for the next ten years! There's tons of it! LOL
