Smashed Pancake Egg
Hi guys,
I woke up as usual and went to check on and feed the torts when I noticed something different in the pancakes enclosure. When I looked closely I saw that my beautiful female pancake had laid an egg, but had smashed it. There was yolk everywhere. I was surprised at how much shell there was to, but I know that their eggs are quite large for their size. So as you can imagine I am feeling very sad this morning. I was so excited as they had mated some months ago, and I was hoping for baby pancakes. or should I say a baby pancake! I just wanted to share this sad news with other tort people. Jason |

Sorry for your sad news. I have this problem with one of my female Hermanns, she is constantly laying and breaking eggs. I have tried everything to provide her with a suitable nest site, but she still surface lays and breaks the eggs.

Oh no what a shame, but at least you now know she is egg laying. I hope to have eggs off my pair in the future. Good luck and keep us posted.
