Hermione does have that flattened look which suggests quite serious problems and to my eyes at least something much more worrying than being a bit lumpy. And I think even with the very best of care and treatment she will always have a vulnerability as a result.

But that doesn't mean she can't have a good life with you Christine so I hope you stick with it and keep us updated!

Thank you, I appreciate that. To be honest after reading *every* post about MBD on here and TT, even though I'm an amateur I think I can be pretty sure she has MBD, due to the sloping down of her shell, non-domed shape and carrying herself low on her back legs. However, she's not soft, and since I've had her I've noticed an improvement in her walking- I know it's too early really for real change, but I put it down to better substrate and more space to roam. She's carrying herself a little taller. The main thing is she is eating, drinking, pooing and weeing well. I've got to wait til payday for X rays etc but I would do this earlier if she was showing signs of being unwell. In fact the opposite- she's really 'come out of her shell' (!) since I've got her!

I agree with Jonathon, your tortoise does have a great degree of MBD. Possibley lack of correct UV.
But now she has found someone who cares, and is doing their best to give her a better life.
Just treat her as a normal tortoise, and you will reap rewards with her:0)
These sort of tortoises although they have had bad experiences can turn out to have some of the best charactors.
