Default calculating growth.

Hello guys. Can someone please tell me how to calculate a torts growth? I attempted to measure Leo's carapace which measured 10.5 cms = 105 mm and he weighs 120g (however i'm not sure my scales are bang on accurate) when i tried to put this to the Jackson Ratio it appears that my Leo is drastically under weight. He is a 2 yr old Easterns Hermanns. He looks great have i miscalculated? Or does my boy need fattening up, please advise, i'd be very greatful.

Thanks
Juels

If your scales are correct and you measured correctly (as in measuring the carapace (top shell) in a straight line) than yes he is quite a bit under weight.

I have a Hermanns called Leo I measured over the shell, but i've seen your meant to pop tortie next to a wall n measure that way so that's what i'll do! I've probably mis-calculated as numbers are not my strong point.

This is how to measure incase you're not sure http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/measuring.htm

If you want to test your scales try using an unopened bag of sugar or flour

Try to be as exact as possible, even a few mm makes a huge difference.

Thank you all for your advice and the link sheli88. after much footering about i got a much healthier ratio, Leo is still a little under-weight but only a little bit, i'll bulk up Leo's diet and weigh again in a week or so. Thank you so much for your help. Much appreciated.

What is the contraption called that is used to weigh the tort in the link? I know it's a wood-work tool but can't remember what it's called, i'll have to purchase one of those, I can see it ill make life much easier and much more accurate.
