i allow my dog Linus to sniff at Sherman when i am right next to him. Today my dog was sunbathing in the garden and Sherman was on the grass. Sherman kept going over to him, which scared the life out of Linus!
So no matter how placid you think your dog is, remember that the tortoise could always antagonise/scare it. And the tortoise will end up worse off! Paula

I know some of you say its not as bad as you thought and for that I am glad - I still shudder to think what might have happened, had I not went out when I did
Shellie is amazingly fine - he has had a couple of strawberries today as he was not taking his medicine well - It should end tomorrow so will be back on his mixed weeds. He has also been back outside in the enclosure, but this time with the thick wire mesh to stop the dogs!!! |

I'm so glad he's doing well!! They are tough little guys -- as long as they are healthy, they can withstand more than many people think. GO SHELLiE!

Oh no how horrid, Im glad your little tort is on the road to recovery, my 2 THb`s were in their outside enclosure this afternoon and my 2 dogs were sunbathing but I would never leave my torts with a dog same as I wouldnt leave a child with a dog.
Heres to a speedy recovery. Tanya |

That's why I was so very upset - neither would I!!! - and I have told my lad time after time, never to trust the dogs, but sadly on this occasion he completely forgot
Shellie has been back out in his enclosure - fortified now , and has been enjoying the super sunshine 8) |

Poor Shellie,
I hope she makes a good recovery, bless her she has certainly been through a major ordeal. The only good thing to come out of it is it will serve as a warning to others hopefully as to what can happen. Ade

i hope hes starting to feel better now, i had a similar experience but thankfully there was no lasting damage, we had a litter of puppies and had 2 left, so when we had the pups the torts didnt get out much but i had let them out with only 2 pups left n i had turned my back for a second to fill the water bowl, n i went back my little hermann (Edna) was in one of their mouths!! luckily tho there was no damage done because he had only had her a few seconds... thankfully!.
hope shellie is feeling better soon
