There is tons of information on the internet... research it a little and you will probably be surprised at the variety of habitats the Redfoot tortoise occupy. The majority of those habitats are relatively dry.

As I always thought they needed hot humid habitats to keep there eyes clear and their skin supple.

Redfoots do not need a moist environment. They do benefit from a humid hide.

Isn't Cotswold one of the bigger and respected zoos in the UK? I would think they have keepers who might know a little more about keeping tortoises than the average tortoise keeper.

The local council issue places like that their lisence and they have to meet certain standards of care so they would be the one who would pay them a visit. If you do have to complain find a good care sheet and email that but make sure its from a good source, have a look at the tortoise trust site as they are usually known to most.

But they still need high humidity, would never really drop below 65% even in the open, most young hachlings would be exposed to 85-90%.

They do not. I'd be very surprised if the humidity is anywhere near 65% where they occur. I'd be interested in where you got the information on the hatchlings.

Again... research them a little better.

Look at weather reports for areas in and around the red foot range. It has been tested by many keepers that ideally young red foots should be kept at 85% humidity, never dropping below 70. For the first few months, they'd spend most of the time in leaflitter not in the open.

I guess you know better...

It is impossible to pick a single range within the Redfoots range considering they occur through a very wide range north to south... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-footed_tortoise

Oh yes there is a massive range and I'm sure temps and humidity vary greatly throughout. We had discussion about humidity a while back on a different forum, interestingly enough there were a few people who said 80% min.

Reality and what some people think are very different things. If you limit your sources of information... you're basically ignorant to the facts.
