ProRep Tortoise Substrate
I recently tried ProRep Tortoise life substrate which I purchased from SW Ebay shop.
It is absolutely fantastic, nice & soft & my leopards seem to like it I decided to buy some more, which I got from a different Ebay supplier (I tried to save a fiver ) Anyway it arrived today & basically its just a bag of GRIT! its not even in ProRep packaging or anything, its just a plastic white sack. I have messaged the supplier & I got this reply: Hi, This is the tortoise life pro rep use, they just repackage it in the own bags for the smaller 10L bags they sell, this is a 25kg bag so it is very difficult to repackage this in the pro rep packaging, I am sorry to hear the packaging has split, has any of the tortoise life been lost?Kind regardsSimon I have told them it is nothing like the ProRep Substrate I have used before. I certainly dont think this stuff is going to be suitable to be used with Tortoises. So basically this is just a heads up, I dont know if Im allowed to name & shame the supplier? In future all my Tortoise supplies will be purchased from SW. Thanks SW for being a totally reliable & trustworthy company

you can buy it from some pets at home and its in most pet shops that sell torty things etc, it may even be worth asking if your shop can get it in for you, you'd save the postage. Our local Shirley Aquatics used to order it for me and it was about £6-7 per bag. It should always come in the proper bag.

I have had this once with the Pro rep and contacted the manufacturer, it is the same stuff they use in the 10kg bags, honest
In fact I think it was from SW I ordered the 25kg bag which was white |

I have also bought both the smaller bags and the large size. The first time it was ok in the large bag but the last time I bought some from my usual supplier it seemed to have a lot of sand in it. My torts still like it but I agree it's not the same as before.
I have tried the coco fibre which you rehydrate and now use this along with pro rep tortoise life. I know a lot of keepers use top soil, but I got fed up with getting black flies in it! |

Start a claim with ebay for it not being what you ordered
