Default Munching Pellets

Picked up so Komodo flower and fruit mixed pellets today to try the torts on, especially Parsnip and hutch, both seemed to like them and munced them down.

just wondering as part of a balanced diet how many pellets approx they should be having daily. Parsnip is 1 month old and Hutch 3 months

Parsnip

Hutch

Have a think about adding the baby pre alpine to your pellets, they bulk out well when soaked and will make the fibre content of the meal a lot better. For tinies the baby is better but the adults pellets are ok to try they just have bigger peices in them, they all need soaking then mixing well with the complete ones you are using. http://www.tortoiselady.co.uk/page8.htm

I'd be feeding pellets once, maybe twice a week for a full meal. As much as they will eat.

Brilliant pictures! My Ovid loves his Komodo dandelion pellets, I just put a couple in with his weeds every day- I think of them as like a vitamin tablet

is it advised to feed pellets as i haven't fed Tim any since ive had him. In 3 months ive only fed weeds and the odd fruit treat ?

ps; i use limestone flour and nutrobol on them for the additives they need.

I feed pellets virtually ad libitum when my animals are inside. I observe no negative consequences from this practice, although I understand the caution some take with this. I am not of the belief that the Spartan nature of their feeding in wild conditions is necessary to replicate in captivity (just as I would not withhold "healthy" nutrition from a growing human child).
