Default stark warning be careful of hidden debris in enclosures

I share this as a warning. This afternoon my five year old horsfield passed away. When I found him he was tangled in the remains of a small piece of garden netting. It had become twisted and therefore tightened around his throat several times and death was due to either strangulation or loss of blood flow I would imagine the latter. Obviously I feel awful and ask all to be aware of these dangers and check your enclosures for any potentially dangerous items.

Netting should always be metal or more solid, so this does not happen. Although they are quite capable of climbing a more solid mesh.
A hard lesson to learn:0(

I agree. This was a very small piece no bigger than your hand my neighbour had been using it on his veg patch a week earlier, a small fragment must have found its way into my tortoise enclosure.
