Feeling Impatient.....
My fertile egg is currently on day 56 and I'm feeling so impatient waiting for it to pip! I've not been able to see anything in it since I candled on day 52, so I presume the membrane has pulled down. On day 49 I could still see veins and a bit of tortoise, so I hope the fact I can't see anything now means the baby is starting to absorb the yolk in preparation for hatching.
I really don't like this stage much as I can't see anything to reassure myself it's all okay in there. The temperature in the incubator seems to have been fluctuating between 31.5 and 32.5 over the past few weeks. Humidity has been around 80%, so I'm hoping the baby will decide to make an appearance over the next week. I'm trying to keep busy but keep finding myself drifting back to look through the window of the incubator every few hours.

Oh Emma you sound worse than me, I'm sure it will be fine , it all sounds good, and will happen any minute. My two Hermanns are due in just over a week, I've got this mad idea that they will pip according to my plan, like clock work on Tuesday or Wednesday , week after next. That would be day 54, but sounds like they might go longer. Last Friday we got two more, so another stressy 6 weeks!
Good luck, I'm sure it will happen soon.

I had hoped it would be between day 54 and 60, but I've read it can take even longer!! I wasn't sure once it got to the stage where you can't see in when candling, how long it could take until hatching. It's nerve-wracking stuff!

Thanks Bev. Just the one fertile egg though. I think the fact there's just one precious egg is making me even worse as I'm banking every hope on it.

Can anyone tell me what I should be able to see in the egg at day 57. Candling from the top and sides, I can't see the tort but I can see an air bubble to one end of the egg. I assume the air bubble should still be there?
Thanks.
