Did you get the results the same day? See that's another worry, if they decide to keep her in and do more tests my dad will be left to travel home alone. By that time in the evening his dementia gets bad, he gets tired and more confused.

I'm not sure that they usually keep you in even if they find something. I had my gastroscopy and sigmoidoscopy as an outpatient, when I was being investigated for bowel cancer. I'd have been sent home following the tests whatever the outcome. I'm not sure they would just admit you nowadays with bed shortages the way they are. Although waiting a couple of weeks for any surgery/treatment seems ages at the time, I think it's a pretty quick turnaround.

Everything is just becoming huge in my head. I keep going through all the scenarios. Then I think what will it be like when she's not there anymore. She wasn't much of a mum but she is still my mum. When I have news, good or bad I always ring mum to tell her, it's going to be awful if she's not there any more. Then I think well we don't know yet, but then she's not going to be round forever. Then I think about dad and all his problems and how she will have an excuse not to look after him. And now I'm rambling, but there is so much in my head. AARRHHHGGGG.

It's so easy to over-think things and for it all to magnify. I do the same thing and I like to go through every possibility so that I can think it all through before it even happens! I know I drive my husband mad when I get like that. I'm not surprised you're feeling worried, anxious and no doubt a bit out of control, as it's one of the frustrating things in life we can't control. With your concerns about your dad heaped on top, you must feel like your head is spinning Wendy. I wish I had a magic answer to make it feel better. A cup of tea and some chocolate usually helps me, but I know that's quite a feeble suggestion.
This resonates with me so much as I can relate to how you're feeling right now. x

We had to wait for the results , it was about two weeks. So from diagnosis to opp was about 5 weeks , hubby was at home till the day of the opp, then a further 2 weeks untill we got the full results , size , type , lymph nodes etc. I think it depends on the where it is as well x

Living with Kidney cancer myself I can say that I and other patients I know have never been told the results there and then. I worry every 6 months about my ct results even though I know it will not help. Good luck for tomorrow and positive thoughts sent your way
