Tunnelling Horsefields
Howdy all,
I have read a few times that Horsefield's love to dig tunnels. However, my two, Spartacus and Boadicea, just don't dig. Their enclosure has a minimum of at least 5" inches of soil going up to 9" inches in certain areas (they are 3" and 3 1/4" respectively). So, why aren't they digging? The soil is solid enough for them to dig into (its damp, not dusty nor mud) but they have never shown any interest in doing so! So, why is this? |

They might change there minds given time
I have 2 Hermanns and they did not dig down when I first moved over to soil. Then one did and he loves it now the other has done it once. |

Horsfields tend to dig down whenever the heat is too hot, or its too cold. Sounds like you have the temps just right

I agree with Sandy, mine only tend to dig down properly if outdoors and the weather isnt great.

Thanks for your replies, it makes me feel a lot better!
My two Horsefields cover the "climbing" aspect brilliantly, at times I think they are trying to be mountain goats. However, they just don't want to dig! |
