Sawdust
okay, since my dad has got chickens and ducks.. we normally use sawdust for them...
my dad was wondering can you use that for tortoises or not?

Im not sure, if its for when you bring the tortoise in at night during summer time, then i suppose for the night a thing layer would be ok i use to do that with my old tortoise who went missing years ago

A thin layer would possibly be worse because of the dust spreading more easily.

sawdust sould never ever ever be used for a tortoise it can and will cause respiratory problems

Also causes indigestable impaction, Many years ago it was often used to house tortoises on but many suffered through it, new research has now shown it not to be safe for reasons stated already.
