Places like Countrywide sell bales of hemp. One of the main suppliers is Aubiose. Here's a link to their site, and I expect they could point you to a supplier in your area:

I have been meaning to add this link for everyone, I bought 5kg of hemp from a lady on ebay, who did me a really good price, it saved me about £10 even with postage included in comparison to my pet shop and it got here next day.

I asked her about her supply and said that I belonged to this forum and some other members may be intersted and here's her reply;

Hi, yes I have a large supply. I can offer a discount on regular purchase, bulk orders etc. I can post up to 30kg for the same prics as 5kg. I have a website www.freewebs.com/guineapiggery where you can purchase and pay through Paypal. Or people can contact me at alexanderscoaches@hotmail.co.uk. All purchases are protected by paypal.

Hope this is useful for other members.

Toni, I am not actaully in Chelmsford. I'm in Edney Common which is in Highwood Parish. Basically a turning off the 414. I didn't realise there was somewhere close, thanks Toni. I don't know where it is. I'll have to search it out!
