Flys!!
Ok so we got some lovely saxifrage, carex and another safe show grass forget the name now for the indoor enclosure izzi loves them and hides in them alot however over the last few days we noticed a small number of dlys appearing like little fruit flys and today there's a good 20 or so in and around the plants! Although they're probably no problem for izzi they are bloody annoying and quite disgusting to us. Has anyone had year problems? Is there anything I can do/ use to get rid of them that will be age for izzi as well, we don't want to just move the plants because izzi loves them please help!

I've had this before and I ended up changing the soil in the tort table. Sometimes eggs could be in the soil the plant came in and the flies then hatch. Once I changed the soil I had no more problems.

I have those sticky yellow sheets for flies stuck around the walls of my table and they are very good, they came from the garden center and are sticky both sides. They've been in there for the summer and are covered in little black flies, they don't give of any fumes and are high enough so the torts don't get stuck to them, mind you my boobs have become attatched a few times when leaning over the table.

Might give this a go and just see out of interest how many flies are buzzing about near the torts, thanks.

I had fly papers one year but hated watching the flies still alive, trying to free themselves from the glue. They would live for days and they lost legs trying to get unstuck. I wasn't nice and I know they are just flies but surely nothing needs to suffer like that, not even them.
