Male is Stressing Females
I only put a male in with my two females for half a day or so at a time, and only 3 or 4 times a year but they always seem to get stressed. Last night after he had been in with them for the morning I saw one of the females shoot some bubbles from her nose.
She hadn't just eaten anything or drunk, she was in the greenhouse nice and warm but today she is digging again. Their enclosure is very roughly 13' by 25 foot including the greenhouse with lots and lots of places to escape. When he settles down they don't seem to be bothered by him but they literally run for the hills when he starts on them Do you think she got stressed because she has eggs? How do I get around this stress thing? Has anyone got any experience with this? Last year the same thing happened Last edited by Bindi; 20-06-2012 at 01:33 PM. |

He probably did stress her because she is carrying eggs. I'd only introduce him early in the year and like you have been doing half days for a week or so. Than no more visits till next year. A female can use one breedings sperm for the whole laying season, so you only have to introduce him to the females once a year for a breif period of time.
