Help - Leccy Being Switched Off
I have some eggs cooking in the incubator, I think a few are fertile but I've just been informed that they are switching the electric off nearly all day on Monday!! Any ideas what I can do? Will they die if the temps drop too low for too long?
See - I knew I shouldn't have incubated them - too much stress!! |

I don't know if you could do this or not.. but what about taking the whole thing to a friends or family nearby who will have electricity? Just a thought but I'm not sure if you can move them or not
Not much help I know

What about a generator will that work? Or use a long extension lead and plug it into a neighbours house? Thats if theirs isnt getting turned off too. :S

Could you wrap the incubator in insulation, say layers of bubble wrap, a duvet or something and cross your fingers the temps don't drop?

you could hire a generator from Jewsons maybe. They sell them from time to time in Aldi so hiring might not be too much from Jewson or anywhere that does it. Polystyrene or other insulation might be enough but doubt it would keep it at the temps you have it at now. Extension cable to a neighbour's house and a payment of £10 for energy used

Generator not really an option, and the whole street is losing electric so pinching the neighbours is out too
Think I'll have to dig out the hotter battle bottle and sling a quilt on it lol Trying to take the attitude of what Will be Will be |

Last year we had a power cut for best part of the day and the whole night and they still hatched and no problems (it went off in the afternoon and came on later the following day ... actually I remember we kept having power cuts for a couple of weeks). I covered mine with a blanket and they were in a warm room. I think you will be ok Bindi ...
