Question with vermiculite
Hi My girl has just laid 2 eggs last Friday and I currently have them in an exo terra incubator at 31 degrees with 71% humidity, there is a bowl of water at the bottom of the incubator.
The eggs are half buried in vermiculite, can you advise if I have to keep the vermiculite damp and if I should have a lid on the plastic container with pre cut air holes. Thanks for your help |

I have started using perlite as it has better air circulation around the eggs and not as dusty.

Thanks All, I will keep you all up to date.
I collected Marley(daughter named her after Marley and Me !) from the vets last night as she had not moved, eaten or had a drink from Sunday 6th Sept - Tuesday the 8th September. We had no idea that she was Gravid. We then took her to John Chitty in Andover who kept her in and ran blood tests followed by an xray, this is when we found out that she was carrying eggs. He had to induce her and the 1st egg broke but the other two were O.K, we are uncertain if she had to be induced due to the fact that she is only 6 years old and this is her first clutch, or if there were other reasons. Anyway after being kept in for 7 nights, xrays, blood tests, anti-biotics for a small infection and being induced, we have her back, we are £449 worse off....but she is our girl and we need to look after her. Currently they are outside but I will be bringing them back in on Saturday as the weather is shocking. Just about to build a 7ft x 4ft indoor pen for them ( we have 1 girl and 2 boys). Any Thoughts appreciated on the above. Thanks Daz |
