If this is for an outside enclosure, you can get pre-treated wood, that would have been treated at least a few weeks before you buy it. If you don't like the colour, Cuprinol do a wide variety of colours for wood/wooden garden furniture so you just pick a colour you like.
We bought pressure treated wood last year, because we were sinking the posts of the enclosure in the ground, then bought colours we liked and painted over the exposed wood, so it had 2 treatments! so it should last a long time and look good.

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help I have just built a new outdoor enclosure using picket fences however they have just been creasoted! Do you think this will be ok as I've dug up all the areas where creasote could have been thank you

Is it creosote or creosote substitute? I think the original creosote was outlawed by the EU in 2013, they were reviewing it at least. I doubt that it will do any harm, people used to have creosoted railway sleepers in their gardens along with torts, did it ever do them harm, I don't know for sure but assume they'd have to eat it for that to happen
