can anyone i.d this flower please?edible?
hi all you tort lovers, just been out on the weed hunt and found this, can anyone please help me with i.d. i dont know where to start! i am hoping that it is edible as they are plentiful and it would mean that i have a custom made weed patch! thanks in advance

I'm almost certain that it's a cistus. Cistus grows in the natural territory of the hermanns tortoise, and although it does have tannins in it, it should be perfectly safe for your tortoise (but like everything, feed in moderation). The flowers usually are only open for a day or so -- if you Google 'cistus' and click on images you will see some similar flowers (they come in lots of coloured varieties, but usually variations of white/red/pink.

Now you have said that Nina I agree cistus. But hard to ID without the whole plant<g>.

there you go i said it was a cistus but i wasnt a 100% sure it was edible but im only assuming the torts would only ever eat the flowers and not the leaves but you never know
