Coil bulbs are not advised as they can cause eye problems, different tortoises react differently to them. I like the Arcadia T5 tubes personally.

I don't use the UV bulbs. I supplement through the winter and they go outside during summer.

I used to use a combi light from arcadia thinking It would be easier, all in one basking and uv. Well excuse the pun but I have seen the light. I now have a normal high watt halogen bulb for heat and a t5 strip bulb for his uv. He seems to like it more in that he sits in the light a lot longer. He seems to have really taken to it. I got mine from shelled warrior shop but you can get it from most pet shops that supply reptiles or fish. You will need a reflector and a controller as well. Make sure they are all theright sizes and compatible but the items should tell you what goes with what.
I would definitely recommend this type of set up and a lot of people on here have a similar set up
