RIP Boo!!

Help!! My tortoise died today.
She laid eggs September on 2012 and since then had not been herself!
She didn't seem to eat or drink, we bathed her lots and kept a close eye on her, when we bathed her she would occasionally have poos so we took it she must have been having something to eat. However about a couple of weeks ago she stopped opening her eyes unless we would touch them ect.
Just wondering if anyone could help explain why my Boo died. Very sad and will miss her lots.
