Default Baby tort mouth stuck closed

One of my babies seems to have a stuck mouth, she keeps desperately trying to eat, but can't open her mouth, when she hatched she was covered in very sticky goo, so it may be that, so I am bathing round her mouth with a wet cotton bud, but I don't know what else to do, any ideas would be gratefully received.

Aww poor thing, that must be quite distressing to watch my first thought was a soft toothbrush but it would be too bulky, what about a soft kids paintbrush? you need something to give a little more friction than the cotton bud I quess as the goo has probably gone solid now...umm, I will keep thinking!

Maybe an eyebrow brush? you probably need to get up under the upper jaw, where it overlaps the lower jaw...tricky on such a tiny!

Thanks Alley, brilliant ideas, I will try those, I think your right , it needs a bit of friction to remove the goo.

You could try cold tea:0)
As this removes gunk from eating a slug, so hopefully it would work here.
I think its the white of the egg, that can stick like glue.

Just a thought - have you a small syringe so you could direct warm water just around the mouth area? Poor wee thing.

I'm sure it's the sticky she was covered in , which as you've said is probably the egg white gone sticky, and it's dried hard. I will try the cold tea, I can get a tiny soft paint brush between her upper and lower beak at the front, hope fully keep doing this will soften it.

Oh, the poor little mite. I hope your efforts will be rewarded so that she won't need the vets. It sounds as if she's hungry and will soon be eating once she's able.
Well done Suze. It must be tricky to do as she's so teeny. Let us know how it all goes. x
