Meet Tadpole :-) 6 wks now
Hi everyone meet Tadpole, this is the baby Hermann that took so long to hatch 72 days, Hatch weight 8g, now 6 wks and 15g, just a little concerned about how uneven his shell is, its been the same since birth, scutes are shallow, should I be worried? is this common? what can I do?
Sorry pics arn't very clear but hope you can see. xxxxxx xxxx

I wouldn't worry too much about his shell. I found with my babies the new growth looked like that and then it seemed to flatten down as they grew more. Given that their first scutes looks completely different in both texture and colour to the new growth it can look decietfully bumpy.

Hi Cath,
Tadpole is lovely - nice bright eyes. One of my hatchlings was a wee bit like that on some of its scutes when I first got him but I think he's starting to fill out! SS |

Hi Cath
Looks a lot like Rambo, she was & is a much paler colour & she was 15grams for ages (& ages!) but her scutes were like that, she now has a lovely smooth shell, 1 tiny raised bit, dont know why but the rest is very smooth. |

Hi Cath Didnt think I could upload it but here is one of the few early pictures I have. This is one of Rambo @ 15 grams, dont know if you can see, but her scutes were sunken & the lines between seemed almost raised. They did fill out when she finally started to grow! |

Thanks Cath, I do have a total soft spot for this one. She is about 2 & 1/2 now & still not 100grams! Very feisty little madam though, the complete boss!
