Cath, I am finding the same with Lily. I sometimes doubt my CITES certs...and think god, he cant be coming on 3years old. He looks bigger than a 3 year old. I agree with what everyone has said, Kelly is right on when she said that its not just food intake that causes pyramidding. Lily has got a bit on his middle scutes. But his sides are fine, and his shell- always shiny.
I dont go OTT with the food but like you, just feed as much as his shell is. As long as he exercises and stays active then thats good. What I do is I scatter a few little piles of weeds about the place. He has to go out walking to find them - why not try doing that - keeps him looking for it and exercises him abit as well. xx |

It's very hard to control intake if you have one lone tortoise as there's no competition.My last hatchling has grown far more quickly than I would like but is ok in ratio.Dan keeps advising us that's the important thing.If I don't give mine what she thinks is'enough'she will eat soil,poo,whatevers going!!Or even huge amounts of cuttlefish.Some eat to live,others live to eat-bit like us really.
