oh Row I feel for you, it's not an easy one. I have to do one of mine each year. I'm sorry to say I have to turn Hetty upside down so she sticks her head out and hold her head, with a stick (not always though) to stop her closing her mouth and snip away with man size clippers. it only takes the two maybe 3 snips. She will love you that she won't have the problem and forget about it a few hours later. good luck. it may be the bottom jaw falls into place after? ..... cb

Twiglet is a sod at the best of times, he's the smallest of the two but has an attitude the size an elephant. I'll let you know how I get on or not as the case as may be

When I got Freddie his top beak was really long, way past the bottom one, I couldn't do it so the vet done his for me,

I found that it is easier to have the vet do it. Less stress for me (and possibly for the tortoise too). Our vet does it for £7. It's worth every penny!
