I have just come back from the vets and I will update you all properly later since I have stuff to go to right now but short story is they aren't doing anything. Also we have given her a small tortoise bath of cucumber flavoured tortoise pellets soaked to mush and she is just able to eat those.

That is shocking beyond belief unless there is a valid reason for not carrying out some restorative work

I wouldn't leave it at that, I would so angry and demand they sort this out, without charge, or legal action definitely, shouldn't be allowed to get away with mutilating this tortoise then not doing anything to help her x

I agree . What that vet has done to her is tantamount to animal cruelty, and is negligent.

agree with you completely, but wasn't sure if there was some reason why the vet was doing nothing - perhaps the next update will clarify I would be tempted to try to contact one of the zoological/university/well known vets and ask for their advice. for my area that is Mark Evans,Valley Vets Merthyr (does a lot of TV work). Not sure where would be closest for poor tort.

If it were a child that was mutilated like that, it would be sorted, or they would try to help, it's too easy to just leave an animal as they can't talk, if anyone of us owners had done this it would be classed as animal cruelty and have it taken away, what makes the vet different? It makes me so angry x

I was going to suggest you get the vet surgery concerned to come on here. Actually show them the thread & subsequent comments from fellow tort keepers, some of who have many torts & personal experience, so know this should be a simple procedure, especially @ a vets, being paid for
Its disgusting not to mention heartbreaking for the poor tort who has suffered the trauma. And dont let them tell you, she has no feeling or cant recognise pain because she is a reptile!!! ps have you got some abidec in your cupboard? This might help in a bath, giving her extra vitamins to support her immune system. Shout if you need further details. |

I'm completely astounded by that news. I'm utterly disgusted at how Morla has been mutiliated and hope you are okay. I know in your position, I'd be raging and climbing the walls in fury.
