stars substrate
Hi all I have just got 2 baby stars, I was given bark chippings with them for the substrate but am not sure if this is right? Also every time I spray it little flys are flying out. They are doing well eating well.

I have mine on 3 areas,sterile topsoil, stones & shell grit, oh and a ceramic floor tile in the feeding zone

I have topsoil (sterile) with Timothy hay in sleeping/ hiding areas. The hay gets spreaded all over the table though. When they were babies, I had Sphagnum moss inside ceramic hides and also damp cypress mulch, both worked well. Main substrate is topsoil from Garden Centre, they love to dig in for sleep. Maybe bark is more hygienic, I don't know.
