Nothing special about it at all. Noting the comment about the beak trimming, I have also noticed our pair trying to 'eat' the actual slate chippings we have Obviously they don't break any bits off, but it seems useful for them to keep trimmed too

I bought some tiles yesterday £6 for 6! Thought that was pretty cheap! Fred & Ted love it already!

I have the same bowl you have for my tort Freddie, he didnt look very comfortable when he was eating as his bum was in the air and his legs barely touched the floor because of the angle I have a big slate tile for him now and he seems to prefer it x

Mine prefer their tile. They used to pull their food out the bowl to eat and then get soil stuck to it. Now they can eat the food on the tile and take in less soil.

I use a very thin bit of tile in one enclosure and I have a slate floor tile in the other.
I do prefer the very thin slate but I can't remember where I got it ( think the breeder gave it to me) Does anyone know where I can get these thin pieces of slate from?

I have a food bowl with slate infront of it. If i put mine straight onto the slate Hermann & Lilly insist on dragging the food off of it onto the soil
If i put it in a bowl they then drag it out onto the slate in front and eat it from there

I bought 2 slate floor tiles, odds, from tops tiles and they cost me 3.48 for the 2, well worth the money, they are good for trimming their beaks and easy to clean as well xxx
