Thermometers
Hi, we were just wondering, where is the best place to keep the thermometer? weve got it on the side of his table at the moment but noticing in some peoples pictures that its in the substrate...

I've got the temperature probe set at about top of shell height...
But mine is in the outdoor house (if that makes a difference?)

the temperature should be taken directly under the bulb so it's not easy to do at the height of the tort unless it is lying directly under the bulb. Most people just go by the temp on the substrate directly under the bulb I reckon, you could allow a degree

I have thermometer laying on the substrate under the hot spot directly. I also use infrared thermometer to measure the temps on their shells, for peace of mind.

i use a digital thermometer with a long probe so the unit itself can be fixed but i can check temps all round the table by moving the wire.
