Leaving for the weekend
Hi all,
we are gonna have to leave our baby redfoots alone for the weekend (leaving friday morning when we will do all needed for them and coming back sunday afternoon), as Michael's brother is getting married and we have to go to the west of Ireland. Two cousins of his (brothers 8 and 14 years old) will drop to the house twice a day to feed and spray their enclosure, as the lights are on timer. Today at 5,30 pm they will be coming around to be shown what they need to do. I will leave them the evening meals (fruits and weeds) measured and ready to feed them and will pick some dandelions Thursday to have in the fridge ready for them. What else should I show them (tell them) besides: - spray enclosure twice a day; - change their water; - put them all in the water dish in the morning; - sprinkle nutrabol on their meal; Should I ask them to drop down 3 times a day to check on them? I have a pretty good ideea on what I need to show them, but I cant escape the feeling I may forget to tell them something important...so if you guys would tell them something more...please do share Thanks, Madalina |

Get them to check the temps in the table and the room they are in, just incase we have a cold snap, our weather is so unpredictable at the moment.
Is there anything that could allow them to tip over? I watched mine one day as the three of them all decided to get into the water bowl at the same time at the same point, the water dish is 8 inches across! and they had access all round, but one of them got tipped over onto his back, it was the smallest one. Hope you have a lovely time.

I will leave the heating on over night and there is a heat lamp that will probably stay on 24 h while we are gone. As far as I know temps wont drop below 20 degrees but I will also show them how to check the temps. I have a big branch in, maybe I should take it out before we go. My only worry is as you mentioned the tip over of the little one as the other two are capable to tip back. So I guess I will ask them to drop in 3 times a day. I was thinking 10,30 am, 14,30, 18,30. The little one seems to eat and go to bed at around 7pm so...I usually spray their enclosure for the night at 8 pm tho, but I hope 6,30 pm will hold the humidity at 60% till morning...
I wish I could take them with me!! I am not particulary crazy about the ideea of someone else taking care of them |

Can you get them to pop round before you go, so they can watch you go through your normal routine?
I'm sure they will be fine and there really isn't much more you could do, I think taking them with you would be more stressful, well for the torts at least, I'm sure you will worry until you return, and find them all safe and sound. |
