Indeed, Henk's work with the European Studbook will be interesting to hear about. Make sure, you take some pic's of those C amboinensis. I am sure he will be interested to hear how you are getting on with them.

Default BCG Symposium

Having attended the Spring symposium, a point of interest, that came out of yesterday's meeting was the detail of the first record of a pet Tortoise kept in the UK:
"One of the more unusual artefacts on display at Lambeth Palace is the shell of a tortoise that once belonged to Archbishop William Laud. Laud brought the tortoise to Lambeth in 1633 as a pet, given to him as a gift from his college at Oxford. Ultimately the tortoise outlived Laud by over 100 years. It was accidentally killed at the age of 120, when in 1753 it was dug up out of hibernation in the Palace garden by a careless labourer and subsequently died of frost exposure".
Obviously, Archbishop William Laud might well have been the founder member of the British Chelonia Group?
Judging from the shenanigans, that went off later on at the EGM, a few more of those old skeletons were rattling in the cupboard yesterday.

I'm still trying to understand your quest to destroy the BCG. It seems so out of character. There is obviously something person going on.

On a side note... did you talk to Henk... and how did the Box Turtle presentation go?
