Struggling with food for winter
Hi I am struggling finding weeds for Elvis. Have been feeding him florette crispy mixed leaves as read somewhere on here it was the best one for mixed leaves and whatever weeds I have found which are very few. I have tried to grow some seeds from SW shop but did not have a lot of luck inside the ones outside were great in summer but not so good at the moment. Is there anything else I can feed him for a bit of variety till the weeds start growing again. He is a horsefield we have had him about six months so would guess he is under a year old.

I feed mine a bit of boiled butternut squash which they all love. And once a week I've been giving them exotic leaf eater pellets. They are meant to be one of the better pellet, but I don't know 100% for sure so don't take my word for it. I n the summer when I can find enough weeds I'll probably drop the pellets. I also give them spider plant, winter pansies, and other plants I don't know the names off but I have i.d as ok to feed.

I'm bulking out the weeds with a little bit of aloe and some romaine or raddichio. I've got loads of spider plants here but my torts won't eat it!

I didn't know they like spider plant are they safe just to buy from garden centre? And aloe as well can I just buy a plant? Sounds good if they will eat it. He seems to like the lettuce but want to give him a bit of variety.

Pre Alpine is great and I also use Romaine lettuce as an emergency food.
Oh and a top idea I had was to buy some of the dried flowers, milk thistle etc from the SW shop, soak them for 5 mins in warm water, feed -- mine loved them.
