Default Temp control in this heat ?

Hi again . Sorry to be a pain but I was wondering how you keep the temp down in the cool end of a tortoise indoor table during this heat . I know to lift the hight of the lamp to reduce heat side but had no idea how to keep the table side down . My tort will be outside in this weather most of the time but am having the garden done at this moment so he will need to be in for a day or 2 for safety until it is all done . Many thanks

Hopefully will all be sorted so I don't have to deal with this issue when he arrives but just wanted to think of a solution just incase for a day or 2

I'd turn the lamp off, maybe have it on for a couple of hours in the morning...

It shouldn't be an issue as they'll be outside like you said. My lamps were off today and it peaked at 26C.

2 day's aren't anything to worry about, they have forecasted a nice warm weekend.
It would be good if you could get him/her out for just an hour in the sun, maybe in the front garden if you have one with you watching over him. Another option would be a simply made temporary enclosure in a box, drawer etc...
Not critical though, a couple of day's is fine.

obvious things such as not putting the table in the window, closing the curtains, using a fan in the room but to be honest your tort probably won't mind. Make sure you spray the table well with water and you can always give your tort an extra bath I'm sure they experience hot nights etc in the wild and cope they will simply dig down or hide away, give a good depth of soil so he/she can dig down if they want, babies will often totally disappear which can be a bit frightening when you can't find them.

I have not got him home yet but it is just incase he arrives and the garden is still being worked on . So it would only be for a day or 2 Max . I can't leave him in front garden as il b at work all day and is not safe to be there unwatched . I could turn the table lamp off like someone suggested but it is a 160w Arcadia so he would then loose his day light uv aswell . This is why I was wondering what would be best . Thanx
