Oh No!!
due to some extreme business it was an extra couple of days between checking on the tortoises! unfortunately in that time Misha's bulb blew!!
he now has some red on his plastron!! needless to say I will need to take him urgently to the vet!! (Amber and Tea are both seeming fine but they had working lights!)

Lack of UV or heat would not have caused the redness. It would be either fast growth or septicemia. More likely to be septicemia if you press the red areas and it gets redder.

Does Misha have lots of logs, rocks and suchlike in his table? If so, it could be bruising.
It sounds positive that it blanches when pressed, so hopefully isn't septicaemia. I've never heard of a lack of uv and heat causing redness, so I don't think you should blame yourself for it, Merlin. He's probably been crashing about in his table.

I know I just wonder if the lack of heat made something he was already fighting (but I hadn't noticed) worse. it is also likely if the lights went out he threw himself about more to get to the warmth of where the ladies are (he is a cunning and stubborn but ultimately foolish man!) I am keeping an eye on him in an indoor table for now just in case, he is very active and enjoying all the attention (hissing away as anyone comes close just like normal!) pooping lots and eating

Misha has continued to be active and eat and even better the pink is fading!!
I have a feeling he has been throwing himself about (possibly managed to jump from the second level of his table)
