lenni's shell..
some concerns shes at around 4" long now but the central ridge seems to be more diagnal than central.
The rear part of the top of its shell is alot further down than the other 3 clumped together ar the top, i assume this will spread out as she grows. There seems to be shallow channels in between each one of the things (Not sure on correct name of them basically they were her shell when she was tiny and theyve seperated as she grew) This one at the front same thing im talking about here seems to be growing off the shell like a finger nail its got a lip to it like you do on your fringer nails and if you gently press it its very much like a nail in how it flexes. If the pics are too small click them and then view origional you may have to zoom out as the pictures are quite large i dont understand why its only showing them small :S

I would say the scutes along the spine, are the size from when young. The rest of the larger scutes is from fast growth. Its very difficult to get leopards and larger growing tortoises smoother. You have to get husbandry spot on to do this, which comes with experience. This tortoise is not as bad as some I have seen, so you are doing well.

Ah thanks, I am trying I just thought I would ask to be on the safe side. The term young and daft is certainly true I wish I just stuck to one type until I had more experience as you day this is key.

I think that this is caused by a nutritional deficit somewhere. I had a similar leopard, and after feeding mazuri, the scutes started to spread apart normally. I don't know if they need more calories, or some micro nutrient they're lacking, but I would increase the nutritional content of their diet. I have a large female leopard with two vertebral scutes that haven't spread since hatching. She's 12 years old, and in the last year, they have slowly started to spread (1/8").Additional humidity would also be beneficial.
